Here are some important things to know as you prepare for your trip. It is also a good idea to check with your airline for flight status and any other requirements that may change.

March 13 is daylight savings time! We are springing ahead, which means you could possibly miss your flight if you don’t set your clocks ahead.

COVID- Make sure you do not have Covid before leaving the US. You might want to get a test just to be sure, or quarantine before you leave. THERE IS NO REQUIREMENT TO TEST BEFORE TRAVELING. If you don’t feel well, please reconsider your plans.

Passports-  DO NOT FORGET THEM. You cannot travel internationally without passports. We don’t want anyone to miss their trip!

Reservation Travel Document- Your travel document with all reservation and transportation details will be uploaded to your MyTrips account and CP Mobile app within next few days and before our meeting. Please make sure you can login to your account from the website www.kctraveloutlet.com

Cellular Service Reminder- Hotel provides complimentary WIFI. Contact your cellular provider to inquire about calls/texts while traveling internationally so you don’t incur unexpected charges.

Day of Departure- International flights require that you are at the airport AT LEAST 2 hours prior to departure. I recommend 2.5 hours during Spring Break. I have seen it take up to 3 hours for check in due to unforeseen circumstances and weather. You don’t want to miss your flight!

ARRIVAL in Cancun, you will make your way through Immigration. Just follow the signs and the crowd. Have your passports in hand and immigration forms filled out. (You’ll receive these on your flight). This will make things go much quicker. (keep your immigration receipt with your passport as you will need it to get back home)

Once you have claimed your luggage, proceed to Customs. They may randomly search your luggage before you proceed. After clearing Customs, you’ll proceed to the airport exit. There will be many people asking if you need a transfer, taxi, free tickets to shows, etc. THEY ARE TIMESHARE SALES PEOPLE! Just firmly say “no, thank you” and proceed to the airport exit to meet your transfer.

TRANSFERS- Once outside, you will see many transfer companies holding signs with names. Please look for your transfer company sign. They will have your name on their transportation manifest.

Don’t forget your reservation travel document. This will have your specific transportation information as well as hotel contact information.

Hotel Check-in- Please stay patient- Resort employees are on island time, not “I want it now” time. Due to COVID and being spaced apart, this may take longer than normal. Go to the lobby bar and grab a cocktail while you wait.

COVID TESTING- Your hotel will provide you with your Covid testing date and time. It needs to be 1 day prior to returning to the USA. In the event of a positive test, you may retake at your own expense. The hotel will provide further instruction. If you have had covid in the past 90 days, you do not have to take a covid test if you provide 2 documents.  If you recently recovered from COVID-19, you may instead travel with documentation of recovery from COVID-19 (i.e., your positive COVID-19 viral test result on a sample taken no more than 90 days before the flight’s departure from a foreign country and a letter from a licensed healthcare provider or a public health official stating that you were cleared to travel).

Departure Transfers – The transfer company at the hotel will confirm your flight home and what time to meet in the lobby on day of departure. Please make sure you are confirmed at least 24 hours prior to your check out. Waiting until the last day to confirm your airport transportation is not recommended and can result in a missed airport transfer and is not reimbursable.

Dress Code- Men should bring long pants as some restaurants may require them. Ladies can wear dresses, pants or dress shorts. No tanks or open toe shoes for men.

Safety- Remember that you are in a FOREIGN COUNTRY. The resort area has security and is generally safe, however you should always exercise caution. Here are some safety tips:

TIPS:

Try not to go to the beach at night alone or wander off property

Best not to leave your phones or valuables lying around. Use your safe and make sure you lock it.

Always stay in groups and look out for one another.

Drink lots of BOTTLED water - Dehydration is the number 1 cause of a hospital visit

Packing List:

  • Travel Documents/Passports (MAKE A COPY and TAKE A PHOTO)
  • Cash in smaller bills for tips (amount is at your own discretion. Average amount is $200-$250)
  • 2 Credit Cards – Call company to tell them you will be out of the country
  • Camera/Phone/Chargers – Check with wireless carrier about International access to avoid expensive roaming charges
  • Sunscreen/Bug spray/Anti-Itch spray
  • Ziplocs or waterproof bag to keep valuables
  • First aid kit/Medications for upset stomachs
  • Consider leaving valuable jewelry at home

How to Dial Internationally:

From Mexico to a US phone number from your cell phone, dial “00” then “1” then area code and phone number “913-xxx-xxxx”

Calling a local number in Mexico from your cell, hold and press the “0” on your phone until the “+” sign appears, then continue with the local number you are dialing.

Lastly, we don’t anticipate any issues arising, however if you encounter any issues, please refer to guest services and hotel management for quickest resolution. While we are responsible for your room accommodations, incidentals like room locations, air conditioning, restaurant reservations, and all onsite property situations must be handled directly by the hotel.

Hope you have an incredible vacation! Thank you
